BANGKOK, November 2008 - More than 100 senior representatives from governments, police forces, international security agencies and technology experts from around the world gathered at the 8th Annual Policing Cyberspace International Summit 2008 to facilitate collaboration and information sharing among government enforcement authorities, as well as between public and private sectors with regards to information security, cyberspace crimes; including crimes committed against children and youth; identity theft, document fraud and privacy.
Officiated by The Honourable Dr. Mun Patanotai, Minister of Information and Communication Technology Thailand, the five-day event hosted by the Society for the Policing of Cyberspace (POLCYB), brought together international enforcement and security agencies such as INTERPOL and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, with security technology experts such as Nexbis to exchange information and knowledge on the latest cyber crime threats and to discuss the trends and implications of technologies upon national security and identity management.
Headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, POLCYB operates at an international level, and was established to promote cybersecurity through enhancing and developing global partnerships to prevent and combat cyberspace crimes. Its members consist primarily of police forces, enforcement agencies, government ministries and selected private sector companies from various countries around the world. Representing Malaysia, Nexbis Sdn. Tackling identity and document thefts is important to all of us and it was useful to see how Nexbis’ fast and accessible information delivery system between multiple agencies, especially on an international level, supports efficient enforcement. We are confident in NexCode’s capabilities in providing information and communication technology (ICT) securities”, said Mr. Hyde.
